Baked Camembert with Honey and Thyme

Sharing Plates and SnacksEasy

A whole melting cheese straight from the oven, for dipping bread and fruit.

Ingredients

2 servings

  • 1 whole camembert (about 8 oz) in its wooden box
  • 1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp chopped walnuts
  • 1 baguette, sliced
  • 1 apple and 1 pear, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C)

  2. Unwrap the cheese, remove any paper and put it back into the box

  3. Score the top in a crosshatch pattern with a sharp knife

  4. Tuck the garlic slices and thyme leaves into the cuts

  5. Bake on a baking sheet for 12 to 15 minutes until soft in the middle

  6. Drizzle with honey and scatter over the walnuts

  7. Dip bread and fruit straight into the warm cheese

Tips

  • No wooden box? Use a small ovenproof dish just big enough for the cheese
  • Contains milk, gluten (bread) and tree nuts (walnuts); leave out the nuts if needed
  • Many soft cheeses are made with animal rennet, so look for a vegetarian label if that matters to you

Check for allergies and intolerances before you start, and swap ingredients as needed.
