Hibiscus Iced Tea with Orange

Drinks and MocktailsEasy

A deep ruby iced tea, tart and fruity, with orange and a little honey.

Ingredients

2 servings

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp dried hibiscus flowers (or 3 hibiscus tea bags)
  • 1 to 2 tbsp honey or agave syrup
  • 1 orange, half juiced and half sliced
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring the water to a boil and take it off the heat

  2. Add the hibiscus and steep for 5 to 7 minutes

  3. Strain and stir in the honey while the tea is still warm

  4. Add the orange juice

  5. Let cool, then chill for at least 1 hour

  6. Fill two glasses with ice and orange slices

  7. Pour over the tea and add mint if you like

Tips

  • Naturally caffeine-free, so it works late in the evening
  • Hibiscus stains, so rinse glasses and cloths soon after
  • Make it in the afternoon so it is properly cold by dinner
