Relationship Agreement

Rigger/Rope Bunny Contract

Date:

Rigger / rope bunny

This Rigger/Rope Bunny Contract establishes a consensual rope bondage relationship between a Rigger (the person tying) and a Rope Bunny (the person being tied). This agreement emphasizes that rope bondage is an art form, an intimate connection, and carries inherent risks that must be carefully managed. This agreement is a communication tool and not a legally binding contract.

Purpose

The purpose of this contract is to establish safety protocols, communication methods, and boundaries for rope bondage activities. Both parties acknowledge the physical risks of rope work and commit to ongoing education, safe practices, and clear communication to minimize risks while maximizing connection and pleasure.

Important legal notice

Rules and protocols

Common rules for this dynamic. Keep, change or remove them as you agree.

  • Safety scissors within arm's reach at all times
  • Circulation checks every 5 to 10 minutes (sooner for hands and feet)
  • Immediate release if there is any numbness, tingling, or color change
  • Never leave a tied person alone, not even for a moment
  • No rope around neck or restricting breathing
  • Safe words and non-verbal signals established (speech may be restricted)
  • Rigger remains sober: no tying under the influence
  • Rope bunny communicates any discomfort immediately
  • Maximum time in ties: Floor (30 min), Suspension (10 min) unless experienced
  • Knowledge of basic rope injuries and nerve damage signs
  • Additional rule:

Safety Checks & Circulation Monitoring

Rigger will check circulation and nerve function regularly:

Visual Checks:

  • Skin color (pale, purple, or red = problem)
  • Swelling beyond rope marks
  • Excessive shaking or muscle fatigue

Physical Checks:

  • Temperature of extremities (cold = poor circulation)
  • Capillary refill (press nail, should pink up in 2 seconds)
  • Sensation check (can they feel light touch?)
  • Motor function (can they wiggle fingers/toes?)

Verbal Checks:

  • "Any numbness or tingling?"
  • "Pain level 1 to 10?"
  • "Need an adjustment?"
  • "Color?" (red/yellow/green)

Warning Signs Requiring Immediate Release:

  • Numbness or loss of sensation
  • Tingling or "pins and needles"
  • Pale, purple, or blotchy skin
  • Swelling
  • Coldness
  • Inability to move fingers/toes
  • Sharp pain (not pressure discomfort)
  • Rope bunny asks for release

High-Risk Areas to Avoid Pressure:

  • Front/sides of neck
  • Armpits (brachial nerve)
  • Inner elbows (median nerve)
  • Wrists (radial/ulnar nerve)
  • Behind knees
  • Ankles (peroneal nerve)

Suspension Safety Protocol

Suspension is advanced rope bondage. Requirements before attempting:

Minimum Experience:

  • Rigger: 100+ hours floor bondage experience
  • Rope bunny: Comfortable in floor ties for 20+ minutes
  • Both: Education from qualified instructors
  • Practice: At least 20+ floor ties together first

Equipment Requirements:

  • Suspension point tested to 3x body weight minimum
  • Professional installation/assessment
  • Multiple redundant attachment points
  • Rated carabiners (climbing gear)
  • Crash mat or padding below
  • Spotter available for first attempts

Suspension Guidelines:

  • Start with partial weight only
  • Maximum first suspension: 5 minutes
  • Rigger maintains constant physical contact
  • Plan exit strategy before going up
  • Know emergency release procedure
  • Never suspend alone or without spotter

Hard Limits for Suspension:

  • No head-down suspensions (risk of stroke)
  • No crotch-only suspensions
  • Maximum 15 minutes even when experienced
  • Immediate release if any nerve symptoms

Emergency Procedures

Both parties must know emergency procedures:

Immediate Release Required If:

  • Any loss of sensation or tingling
  • Breathing difficulty
  • Sharp pain (not pressure discomfort)
  • Color changes in skin
  • Rope bunny uses safe word
  • Rigger feels uncomfortable continuing
  • Equipment failure
  • Any injury

Emergency Release Procedure:

  • Cut rope with safety scissors (don't waste time untying)
  • Support body if suspended
  • Lower carefully if possible, or cut and catch
  • Assess circulation and sensation
  • Keep cut rope for investigation
  • Massage and movement once released
  • Monitor for 30+ minutes after
  • Seek medical care if symptoms persist

Medical Emergency Contacts:

  • Emergency: [Local emergency number, e.g. 112 or 911]
  • Primary Care: [Phone number]
  • Rope-Experienced Medical: [If available]
  • Hospital address: [Nearest emergency room]

Nerve Damage Symptoms:

  • Numbness lasting beyond 20 minutes after release
  • Weakness in affected area
  • Loss of fine motor control
  • Pain lasting beyond typical rope marks
  • Any of above requires medical evaluation

Aftercare requirements Mandatory

Partner 1's aftercare needs

Partner 2's aftercare needs
